Fort Portal

Fort Portal is earmarked for tourism, located in Toro sub-region Kabarole district western Uganda at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains currently known as the cleanest town in Uganda. It is the gateway to a number of national parks like Kibale national park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Semuliki national park, Rwenzori mountains national park and the Toro-Semuliki Wildlife Reserve. The area has a cool climate that is surrounded by scenic crater lakes, Rwenzori Mountains, Bigodo wetland sanctuary famous for bird watching, Toro Kingdom with the youngest king in the world, Amabere ga’nyinamwiru stalamites and Nyakasura waterfalls related to the rich chwezi culture, among others. Fort portal is approximately 297km by road, west of Kampala and about 180km North West of Mbarara the largest city in the western region.
