KABALE

Kabale is also called the ‘Switzerland of Africa’, it is a highland place located in Kigezi sub region, western Uganda. It has three counties of Rubanda, Rukiga and Ndorwa which altogether form Kabale municipality. Kabale is known for its green topography, interlocking and heavily cultivated hills with spectacular valleys.  Lake Bunyonyi is the main tourist attraction in Kabale being the second deepest lake in Africa and while there, you can’t dare miss out on a marvelous boat trip, swimming, recreational fishing, canoeing to enjoy birding on this lake. The lake has 29 islands which give it a spectacular view. You can also go on a community walk and visit the Batwa homesteads to learn about their life styles and way of living before they were evicted from the forests. Kabale is approximately 420km that is about 7-8 hours drive to reach your destination via Rukungiri - Kabale route.
