Kasese is located in the Rwenzori region lying north of Lake George, western Uganda. It is bordered by Kabarole district in the north, Kamwenge in the East, Democratic Republic of Congo in the west and Rubirizi in the south. It is the main gateway to Queen Elizabeth national park famous for its tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector and a diverse eco system with the big 4 wildlife. It also boasts of the Rwenzori Mountain ranges standing at 5110m high with snow on the top along the Uganda - Democratic Republic of Congo border. The Rwenzori Mountains also called ‘mountains of the moon’ strides the Equator with its highest peak called the Margherita peak. You can also visit the Mubuku power station, Hima cement, Kilembe mines, and the local people among others. It is approximately 345km from Kampala, which may take about 5-6 hours using the Mubende – Fort portal road.
