Lake Mburo national park is the smallest savannah national park located in Kiruhura district in western Uganda, conveniently located close to the Kampala - Mbarara highway that links Kampala to the western parks. It covers an area of and it was originally gazzetted in 1933 as a controlled hunting area and then upgraded to a game reserve in 1963.  The park has a number of mammal species like Impala only found in Mburo, Topi, buffalo, eland, hippopotamus, Nile crocodile, and the largest number of Bushel zebra. Lake Mburo has a rich bird life with about 350 species like acacia and water associated birds.
