Murchison Falls National Park is located in the north western Uganda covering districts of Masindi, Buliisa in the western, Nwoya in the north, and Kiryandongo. It covers a total area of and was established in 1952 thus the largest and oldest national park in Uganda. The park is divided by Victoria Nile from east to west where the waters of the Nile flow through a narrow gorge. The park is attached to two wildlife reserves Bugungu and Karuma and also habitat of 76 mammal species, 451 bird species and the largest Nile crocodiles. The park consists of the Budongo forest, a habitat of the chimpanzees and abundant bird life. Murchison falls can be accessed using the Luwero triangle which this is about 283km by road and this will take about 3-4 hours.
