4 days (3 nights ) safari in Rwanda combines game drives and gorilla trekking. Travel to Akagera park for guided game drive and then transfer to Parc Nationale des Volcans for a gorilla tracking adventure in the Virungas.
Day 1- Transfer to Akagera park
Our guide will pick you form your hotel/ residence as early as 6 am and drive you to the park – Arrive at the park in 3 hours and head straight to the game tracks for a guided game drive in the savanah plains. Expect sightings of elepahants, zebras, buffaloes, water bucks, girrafes and a variety of antelope species and birds. Transfer to lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you will be driven to Lake Ihema for a boat ride where you will get chjance to spot some aquatic wildlife and birds includding hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes and elepahants on the lake banks. Dinner and overnight stay at Lodge.
Day 2 – Transfer to Parc Nationale Des Volcans
After an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and prepare for transfer to Volcanos park where you will get chance to see mountain gorillas in the wild. Check in at the lodge just in time for lunch, relax and await for your adventure the next day.
Day 3 – Gorilla Trekking
After breakfast, you will be driven to the park quarters for briefing and last minute preparation before you head into the Virunga ranges in search of the mountain gorillas. Tracking can last up to 5 hours depending on location of the gorillas so its adavisable to keep up your fitness levels, carry lots of water and packed lunch and if not strong enough, you could always hire a potter to carry your luggage. You will be given only an hour to take pictures and observe them as they swing around, feed and interact. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4 – Depature
Check out of lodge and prepare for transfer back to Kigali city ending the wildlife and gorilla safari in Rwanda.
