Day 1: Transfer to Kibale National Park
After breakfast, travel West of Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park through Mubende-Fort Portal (where Sir. Winston Churchill declared Uganda “The Pearl of Africa”) or Mbarara-Kamwenge through the countryside littered with, agricultural estates, various types of vegetation such as the dry lands of Ankole, several animals and birds among others. Lunch will be had enroute.
Overnight stay will be at any of our partner hotels: Chimp Nest, Kibale Forest Camp or Primate Lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & Bird watching
Our tracking day starts at the park headquarters in the morning for briefing and registration. We’ll follow the maintained trails deep into the forest looking for chimpanzees in their natural habitat. The 4-hour trek will give you memorable experiences of the over 351 tree species some as tall as 55 metres, over 70 mammal species including 13 species of primates including chimpanzees and over 375 bird species. Return to hotel for lunch. The varied forest cover interspersed with patches of swamps and grassland, creates a haven for birds. After lunch, we’ll take a nature walk to Bigodi swamp a community conserved wetland that is home to several birds such as African Pitta, Green-breasted Pitta, Afep pigeon, white napped pigeon, crowned Eagle, Red chested Owlet, Black bee-Eater, Western Nicator, Yellow-rumped Tinkerbird, Little Greenbul and Brown -chested Alethe.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Departure
After breakfast, return to Kampala through the same routes while viewing the lush green countryside and varied vegetation.
