Uganda’s most isolated national park is situated 520 km north east of Kampala in Karenga, Kabong district making it hard for tourists traveling from the south to visit due to the long road trip. The park which is home to 86 mammal species and up to 500 bird species is bisected by two season rivers namely Kidepo and Narus plus the free standing Mount Morungule- home of the IK people who are the smallest tribe in Uganda .
Kidepo valley park is home to a variety of popular and rare species that include the ostrich, bat eared fox, cheetahs, zebra, elephants, African buffalo, wild dogs, lions, leopards , spotted hyenas plus variety of bird species most notably the vultures and eagles. You can best view the wildlife during game drives, we recommend you do morning, afternoon and if possible even evening game drives to heighten your chances of spotting majority of the wild animals and birds.
Apart from game drives, other activities you can enjoy include bird watching at Apoka, cultural visits to the Karamojong homesteads , learn about their rich culture and participate in some of their day to day activities. Hike to Lomeju hills and nature walks in the Narus valley.
